Coaching for Adult Riders Clubs
Groundwork and Ridden
Andrew is an experienced coach who is able to adapt classes to differnet learning styles and confidence levels. He isgreat at building confidence and giving riders the tools to progress past any issues they may be having with their horse.
Groundwork is the foundation of a rider’s relationship with their horse. It helps improve communication and timing of communication between horse and handler and it builds trust and confidence. All groundwork exercises taught in this class have a direct correlation to riding and help the horse move in a biomechanically healthy posture that benefits the horse’s long-term soundness. This class also aims to help horses find mental relaxation and comfort and is suitable for young as well as older horses.
Ridden classes focus on communication between horse and rider using horsemanship principles under saddle. Emphasis is placed on the rider’s seat and legs to direct and influence the horse’s movement, rather than relying on the reins. Riders will improve their feel, timing and balance to help develop softness in their horses. Each horse and rider combination will be given exercises and assistance specific to their individual needs and goals.
‘Learning Footfalls‘ – because having the ability to feel and influence the horse’s feet from the saddle is an important skill for all riders.
‘Trail riding confidence‘ – This class provides information and exercises to prepare horses and riders for trail riding by incorporating horsemanship principles, rider safety and confidence building.
‘Garrocha classes‘ – The Garrocha, is a long pole that is traditionally used by the Doma Vaquera (Spanish Riders) who have developed it into an art form. Riding with the Garrocha is useful for improving horsemanship skills and improve the harmony between horse and rider.
Mechanical cow and cattle clinics
Working Equitation is a great and fun way to build the horse and rider’s partnership. Andrew regularly coaches Mechancial Cow classes for beginners to advanced riders as well as one day Cattle Working Clinics where riders can safely introduce their horses to wokring with real cows and advanced riders can hone their skills.
